Currently on loan to the Pacific Grove Public Library...

Trotter Galleries has loaned to the Pacific Grove Public Library their collection of 28 pastels and color sketches by early California artist, Mary DeNeale Morgan (1868-1948), documenting firsthand the ruins caused by the 1906 fire and earthquake in San Francisco. This is a historically important documentary by one of California's most recognized and distinguished woman artist active during the first half of the 20th century. Morgan was born in San Francisco. She studied at the School of Design (1884-1895), and opened a studio in Oakland in 1896. In 1909 she settled in Carmel where she bought the studio-home of artist Sydney Yard located on Lincoln near Seventh.
