Pedro J. de Lemos was the last nationally recognized leader of the American Arts & Crafts Movement.

"Without the use of incised lines this method creates a design with layers of transparent tones that are somewhat similar in appearance to a wash drawing…
In Lemos' pure aquatint, "Mount Tamalpais…" he creates a brilliant tableau of Tonalist subtleties, the result of at least five acid baths."
