Armin Hansen was one of the most notable artists to have lived on the Monterey Peninsula. He was well known as a painter, and played a prominent role in the birth of etching in the American West. His work was exhibited nationally and internationally receiving fame for both his prints and paintings. Hansen showed his prints at most of the major print exhibitions in this country from the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition (SF) onward into the mid-1930s. Recipient of numerous awards and prizes, Hansen’s finely crafted etchings and drypoints were avidly sought for public and private collections. Today his graphic work is still highly sought after and cherished by collectors.
