In 1902 he moved permanently to Pacific Grove and in 1906 he purchased a lot on Central Avenue where he built a studio/home for his new bride overlooking a view of Monterey Bay.

Known as "Professor" Adam, he gave art lessons in his rose-covered cottage at 450 Central Avenue. With a bright and colorful palette of both oil and watercolor, he became most recognized for trees growing along the coastal dunes, the profuse gardens of the Hotel Del Monte, and flowers surrounding peninsula cottages.
